Sean Sutton shifts to full-time assistant coach
TULSA, Okla. Following a one year stint as Executive Advisor to the basketball staff, Sean Sutton has been named full time assistant coach for the Oral Roberts men's basketball team.Sutton will be replacing Chris Crutchfield, who recently accepted a similar position with the University of Oklahoma.
"We are excited to add Sean to our staff in a full time capacity," stated head coach Scott Sutton. "He brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience to our program and I look forward to the opportunity to continue to work with him."
Sutton served as head coach at Oklahoma State from 2006-08, posting a 39-29 record during his two seasons in Stillwater. He previously spent 13 years as an assistant to his father Eddie, who coached the Cowboys for 16 seasons. In 2005 he was named the Rivals.com Recruiter of the Year after reeling in the nation's #1 ranked class and Rivals #1 ranked player.
With a combined 1,068 wins, the Sutton's are the most successful father-son basketball coaching combination in NCAA history.
Sutton is a 1992 graduate of Oklahoma State, where he helped guide the Cowboys to the Sweet 16 in 1991 and 1992. He also played two seasons at Kentucky from 1987 to 1989.
As a player and coach, Sutton has been a part of 13 NCAA Tournaments, four NITs and two Final Fours.
