Wing Week Builds Relationships Among Student Body

By Ashley Powell

Wing Week is a new tradition at Oral Roberts University in which students have the opportunity to grow closer to others on their floor by participating in various events. From Tug-O-War to a lip-syncing contest over 450 students participated in Wing Week.

This first event to kick off this year's Wing Week was Sunday afternoon where students painted banners representing their floor outside of Zopelt. The banners were then hung inside of the LRC to showcase students' artistic ability and wing pride.

Students participate in various events with their wing or they team up with other wings. With these events, teams earn points and the team with the most points by Friday wins $600 to go toward a wing event.

The first Wing Week, hosted by the Student Association, was last year after Derek Balderson, Student Association Vice President, came up with the idea two years before. Balderson traveled around to different universities getting ideas for the event.

"I am thrilled by the sense of unity that is growing amongst these wings," says Balderson, "I hope the event continues to grow its success and involvement in the future."
