ORU Hosts Worship Camp

For the first time, ORU's International Worship Center (IWC) is hosting a Worship Leaders Camp. This camp will be held on the ORU campus July 19-25. Students ages 13  to 18 who are interested in pursuing a career in church worship or want to enhance their church's worship program are encouraged to attend. This camp will also give the campers a chance to live at ORU and get a feel for the worship department the university offers.

At the beginning of the week, campers will be assigned to a "worship team." Each morning campers will practice songs with their team. During the afternoons campers will be mentored by an ORU student and will participate in planned activities. On the last day, campers will lead worship during the worship service at The Assembly at Broken Arrow.

"We want to instill practical knowledge and impart spiritual wisdom to the students," says Jonathan Swindal, Assistant Director of IWC. "The most important thing they can learn is that church music ministry is more about relationships than music. All training at camp is hands on, so that every individual, whether vocalist or musician, will learn more about his/her gift and how to excel when they leave camp."

Along with Swindal, Wayne and Jennifer Lee, Directors of IWC and professional worship leader, Austin Biel will be conducting the camp along with six ORU students.
