ORU Grad Receives Prestigious Scholarship
Oral Roberts University theology graduate, Mark Reyes received the Presidential Windgate Scholarship from Asbury Theological Seminary to earn a masters in divinity. Reyes will begin at Asbury this fall.
The Presidential Windgate Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship that is given to five students each year. This prestigious scholarship is given to students who have a 3.75 grade point average, demonstrate faithful involvement in a local worship community, have solid moral character and leadership skills and are committed to world evangelism and missions.
"This scholarship helps me to challenge myself in more ways than one," said Mark Reyes. "Each of the qualifications and requirements of Presidential Scholars sets me on track to having a well-balanced background of both Biblical knowledge and practical application."
While studying at Asbury Theological Seminary, Reyes must maintain a grade point average of 3.5, participate in four Christian service activities each year, attend a financial planning seminar and workshop and commit to an active ministry following graduation in order to keep the scholarship.
After graduating from Asbury Theological Seminary, Reyes plans on becoming a pastor while attending the University of Chicago for a PhD in Ancient Near East Studies.
