ORU Assigned to Norman Regional, Will Face Oklahoma in Opening Game
After winning their 13th Summit League title, Oral Roberts University's baseball team has been assigned to the Norman regional as the No. 4 seed and will face No. 1 seed and host Oklahoma on Friday, June 4 at L. Dale Mitchell Park at 1 p.m.
Joining the Golden Eagles (35-25) and Sooners (44-15) are No. 2 seed California (29-23) and No. 3 seed North Carolina (36-20), who play Friday at 7 p.m. It's the first No. 4 seeding for ORU since 2003.
The Golden Eagles are making their 13th consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, and 22nd overall. ORU received an automatic bid after winning its 13th straight Summit League Tournament title, while Oklahoma, Cal and UNC are at-large selections.
ORU's string of 13 straight regional is the fourth-longest active streak behind Miami (38), Cal State-Fullerton (19) and Rice (16).
The winner of the Norman Regional will advance to face the champion of the Charlottesville (Va.) Regional in the Super Regional round of eight for the right to advance to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
