Fall Outreach Brings World Hunger Challenge
Fall Outreach is an annual tradition at ORU, held on Oct. 31. The Community Outreach program organized a canned food drive and invited students, faculty and staff to participate. The effort this year was able to collect approximately 5,900 cans of food. The food will be donated to local food banks and ministries to help them meet the needs of families in Tulsa during the holiday season. This year Community Outreach teamed up with World Vision, Student Association, Students In Free Enterprise, and the Social Justice Society to broaden the impact and build awareness of local and global hunger to the campus of ORU.
Throughout the week of Oct. 26 through Oct. 31, students were encouraged to fight world hunger by sponsoring a child through World Vision. There was also a World Hunger Challenge Oct. 28 through Oct. 30. Students participated in this challenge by committing to eat only a bowl of rice and beans for dinner each evening. The week concluded with the campus-wide canned food drive and an After-Party hosted by Student Association.
