Hall of Fame Inductee

Dr. Debra Sowell, ORU Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs, has been announced as one of the 2009 inductees into the Central High School Hall of Fame in her hometown of Aberdeen, S. D. Dr. Sowell was part of the 1967 class of Central High School and will be honored for her academic achievements. In addition to her current position at ORU, Dr. Sowell has also served the university as dean of instruction, associate dean of arts and sciences, and as a tenured mathematics professor. She has authored four statistics textbooks. During her high school years, Dr. Sowell was a member of the Central High School debate team for three years, which she describes as a defining experience in her life. Dr. Sowell, along with the other inductees, will be honored at the CHS Hall of Fame banquet in September.
