Developing Whole Leaders for the whole World

ORU Engineering Joins the Race

A group of engineering and business students have joined the Formula SAE competition, in which students design, build, and race formula-type cars. The Formula SAE design competition is hosted by SAE International, a society dedicated to advancing mobility engineering worldwide. In time for the 2010 season, the students hope to design, build, and race their first car. The competition offers practical hands-on experience while allowing students to apply classroom theory to real-world applications. Although the competition includes a race, it is also a design competition and will test the engineering and marketability of the vehicle. Students of any major can help with this project and should read the 2009-2010 Formula SAE Information Packet on the Formula SAE section of the ORU engineering Web site. The ORU Formula SAE team is also looking for encouragement, involvement, and support from others in the ORU family as well. Anyone interested in being a part of this project can contact Dr. John Matsson in the engineering department for more information at jmatsson@oru.edu.
