Developing Whole Leaders for the whole World

An Exciting New Year at ORU

Tulsa, OK – Oral Roberts University is excited to welcome students back the week of August 8. While many of them were off doing missions work around the world over the summer, the campus was buzzing with activity. Here are a few highlights that we believe your viewers, listeners and readers would love to know.

Oral Roberts University is welcoming over 900 new students to campus from 42 states and 38 nations on Monday, August 8. That’s an increase of more than one hundred new freshmen compared to last year. ORU President William M. Wilson will be there to help the new students get settled in. The student association has a number of fun activities to welcome the class of 2020 including Epic Board Game Night and a unique movie experience in J.L. Johnson Stadium.

ORU Students will also be eating in style this school year. The university updated its cafeteria with new paint, art and seating. SAGA, as it’s known to students, will also offer a late-night option for students taking classes late or who lose track of time while studying and need the convenience the cafeteria offers.

ORU is excited to host the Grand Opening of its new Global Learning Center in November. The $8 million dollar project will bring augmented virtual reality learning to ORU students around the world. The GLC adds 10 new classrooms, a 700-seat theatre space and new television suite to the campus. The GLC will truly extend the mission of ORU around the world and help the university fulfill its mission to take the Gospel to the uttermost bounds of the earth. Look for more information on this exciting event.

ORU also welcomes eight new professors including Wonsuk Ma, Ph.D. and Julie Ma, Ph.D. They will be teaching in the graduate and undergraduate Schools of Theology. They come to ORU from the Oxford Centre for Missions Studies. Wonsuk Ma is an ordained minister with the Korean Assemblies of God. We are also thrilled to have Canadian soprano Michelle Price-Eiler, Ph.D. She has won numerous competitions in the United States and Canada. Last year she was the inaugural recipient of the University of Oklahoma's Marilyn Horne Performance Award. Price-Eiler will be teaching voice and opera.

Please keep an eye out for many exciting stories coming from ORU this coming school year. The University has many stories to tell and we are anxious for you to share them.
