ORU Students Knock for the Needy

Oral Roberts University students went out into local neighborhoods on Oct. 31. However, instead of asking for candy, they collected over 8,300 cans of food.

This canned food collection is part of the university's annual Fall Outreach. Oral Roberts University students are prepared and encouraged to "go into every person's world" to minister the gospel. As a part of this directive, the Fall Outreach event is a strong ORU tradition that drew over 800 participants this year. The food collected will be donated to area organizations such as John 3:16 Mission and the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless for use in helping them serve needy families during the holidays.

After the can collection, participants gathered back on campus to enjoy an outdoor concert by several student bands, hayrides, hot drinks and a BYOP (Bring Your Own Pumpkin) pumpkin-carving contest.
