Oral Roberts University shot a final-round 307 to win its third straight tournament championship, and senior Christy Carter (Tulsa, Okla.) picked up her sixth career victory along the way at the Bob Hurley Auto Group ORU Shootout, Tuesday at Meadowbrook Country Club.

The Golden Eagles shot 913 (301-305-307) during three rounds of play, comfortably out-distancing second place UTEP (924) for the 26th tournament championship in program history. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (932), Lamar (936) and Northern Arizona (939) rounded out the top five in the 18-team tournament.

ORU's three consecutive tournament victories are a program first. The Golden Eagles are 3-for-3 this fall, with the other wins coming at the Missouri State Payne Stewart Memorial and the Univ. of Kansas Sunflower Invitational.

Carter, who entered the final round with a two-stroke lead, finished the tournament at 3-over par 219 (73-70-76) after shooting 76 on Tuesday. Rain, winds, and temperatures near 60 degrees kept scores high, but Carter gained an 8-stroke victory over runners-up Kelsey Weber (Missouri State) and Sydney Cox (Oklahoma City Univ.).

Carter has finished in the top 10 in all three starts this fall, giving her 23 such finishes in her career.

Freshman Amber Hensley (Jenks, Okla.) joined Carter in the top 10, but struggled during the final round. Entering play in second place and two strokes behind Carter, Hensley fired an 86 on Tuesday to finish tied for ninth at 231 (73-72-86).

Fellow freshman Eve Santillan (Aguascaliente, Mexico) rebounded from a difficult day on Monday, shooting 75 during the third round to finish tied for 16th at 234 (78-81-75).

Junior Megan O'Connell (Odessa, Texas) saved her best for last. After shooting 79 and 83 in two rounds on Monday, O'Connell carded a 75 on Tuesday to finish tied for 24th at 237.

Freshman Kylie Bollenbach (Edmond, Okla.) finished tied for 35th at 240 (77-82-81).

Rachel Romack (El Paso, Texas), playing as an individual, enjoyed a stellar tournament. The sophomore finished seventh overall after a 78 on Tuesday left her at 229 (77-74-78).

The Golden Eagles play their fourth and final fall tournament when they at the New Mexico State Prices 'Give'Em Five' Intercollegiate, Oct. 13-14 in Las Cruces.
