ORU Women's Golf Wins Playoff at Sunflower Invitational

Leading Nebraska by four strokes entering the final round, the Golden Eagles shot 311 on Tuesday compared to 307 for the Huskers, forcing a playoff. After the teams tied on the 13th hole, ORU used four pars on the 18th to win the playoff and its second tournament title in two outings this fall.
The Golden Eagles finished tournament play at 926 (307-308-311), while Nebraska also came in at 926 (307-312-307). Illinois State (930), South Florida (931) and Kansas (934) rounded out the top five.
Freshman Eve Santillan (Aguascaliente, Mexico) continued her fine early-season play, shooting a final-round 76 to finish third at 10-over par 226 (77-73-76). Santillan came in three strokes behind individual champion Emily Powers of Kansas.
Senior Christy Carter (Tulsa, Okla.) finished sixth after a final-round 76 left her at 230 (76-78-76). Freshman Amber Hensley (Jenks, Okla.) joined Santillan and Carter in the top 10, tying for seventh at 232 (76-79-77).
Freshman Kylie Bollenbach (Edmond, Okla.) struggled during the final round, posting an 82. But she still managed a strong overall finish, coming in tied for 28th at 238 (78-78-82). Sophomore Rachel Romack (El Paso, Texas) placed tied for 58th at 248 (80-83-85).
The Golden Eagles take next week off before resuming play by hosting the annual ORU Invitational presented by the Bob Hurley Auto Family, Oct. 5-6 at Meadowbrook Golf Club in Tulsa.
