Dr. David Dyson, graduate business professor, assumed his position as regional president of the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs on July 1. Dr. Dyson was elected to serve in October 2006 and has spent the last two years learning the ropes and preparing for his one-year term as president of region 6.

One of the main responsibilities of the president is to host the regional conference. Dyson anticipates 60-75 participants representing more than 30 universities at the three-day conference October 29-31 on the ORU campus. The theme will focus on "growth and regrowth" both of Tulsa as a community and ORU. Dyson has already been busy lining up sponsors for the event and other companies who will participate in a variety of ways. One of the items already on the agenda is a tour of the BOK Center.

"The conference will highlight not only business excellence, but will also concentrate on creating better teachers so our students benefit from the enhanced teaching methods," said Dyson.

Other responsibilities include meeting twice annually with a board of regional presidents to advise the board of directors and executive staff of the accreditation agency. Dyson will also supervise the work of ACBSP committees in region 6.

Region 6 is made up of five states and includes universities such as Dallas Baptist University, Northeastern State University, University of Central Oklahoma, Oklahoma City University, and Texas Lutheran University. Dyson was nominated to run for president by a committee of past presidents of region 6 and voted into the position by the general membership.
