Bain Wins Second-Consecutive National Championship in 400m

DES MOINES, Iowa - After becoming the first-ever NCAA National Champion in any sport at Oral Roberts University, senior Andretti Bain followed up his indoor 400-meter national title with an outdoor 400m title.

The Nassau, Bahamas native raced to an ORU school record 44.62 to defeat USC's Lionel Larry, who had held the No. 1 time in the 400m for the past month, by 0.01 seconds.

With the win, Bain remains the only NCAA Champion in any sport at Oral Roberts, wnning his first title in Fayetteville, Ark., at the 2008 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship.

ORU wraps up its 2008 outdoor season with the women in 57th place with three points after a sixth-place performance by Rachel Talbert in the discus throw, while the men finish in 25th place with 10 points after Bain's first-place finish.
