Business School Dean Honored with Teaching Excellence Award
|
Wright's competition included professors from among the 42 ACBSP member schools that offer baccalaureate/graduate degrees.
As the award winner for Region 6 (Southwestern Council), Wright will be honored at the 2008 ACBSP annual conference, being held June 20-23 in New Orleans. He and the honorees from the other seven regions are eligible for the top prize: the International Teaching Excellence Award.
The ACBSP Teaching Excellence Award Committee looked at five criteria in evaluating professors for the award, including quality of classroom teaching and learning; institutional versatility; curriculum development; professional development and community commitment. Wright as the regional award winner will compete with winners from other regions and be eligible for receipt of the international award.
ACBSP is responsible for accrediting business programs at associate degree and baccalaureate/graduate degree colleges and universities with a focus on teaching and learning in the classroom. The ORU School of Business is accredited by ACBSP.
A member of the Board of Directors for Covenant Federal Credit Union, Voice of the Martyrs, and the International Christian Foundation, Wright earned both his bachelor of science and master of business administration degrees from Oral Roberts University and his juris doctorate and doctor of philosophy degrees from Regent University. Wright's Ph.D. is in organizational leadership with a cognate emphasis in business, and he was named the Outstanding Doctor of Philosophy Graduate in the School of Leadership. In his role as a faculty member, he has received numerous awards related to innovation in the classroom, incorporating technology in the classroom, research, and service. He is involved in extensive research in both nonprofit and for-profit strategic leadership and development and has published or presented numerous articles, book chapters, papers, and essays, as well as a book in the area of estate planning. One of his articles has recently been published in a blind peer-reviewed journal that many consider to be the top journal in his discipline. Wright also serves as an advisor to the Oral Roberts University Graduate Business Association.
The Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) recognizes the significance of the classroom teacher to the mission of business degree-granting institutions. Based on this, the Associate Degree Commission and the Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Commission have established the Teaching Excellence Award to recognize individuals who exemplify excellence in teaching.
