ORU Women Take Summit League Title; Carter Grabs Individual Honors

Leading by 33 strokes entering the final round, ORU shot 303 on Tuesday to finish at 917, 42 strokes ahead of second place South Dakota State (959).
Carter earned her first Summit League Athlete of the Year honor by shooting a final round 72 to finish tourney play at 1-over par 217, three strokes ahead of defending champion Ontiveros (220) who joined Carter on the Summit League first team.
Jessica Gibson (Tulsa, Okla.) finished seventh after a final round 75 left her at 238, and Megan O'Connell (Odessa, Texas) finished tied for ninth at 242. Both players earned second-team all-league honors. Sharon McAlpine (Ft. Worth, Texas) finished tied for 21st at 251.
Lance Watson was named Coach of the Year for the eighth time.
The Golden Eagles earn the Summit League's automatic bid to NCAA Regionals, and will represent the league when post-season play begins on May 8.
