ORU Captures Summit League Regular Season Championship

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Oral Roberts University women's tennis team captured the Summit League regular season title with a 4-2 over Western Illinois, Sunday at the Pine Ridge Racquet and Fitness Club in Fort Wayne, Ind.

The Golden Eagles finished the 2008 Summit League campaign with a perfect 8-0 mark while finishing the regular season with 9-9. Western Illinois fell to 11-10 overall and 5-2 in league action with the loss.

ORU claimed wins at No. 2, 3, 5, and 6 singles to claim the match. Hayden Rush defeated WIU's Kim Lennartsson in straight sets at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-1. Rafaela Souza then picked up a win at No. 3 over Zi Wang, 7-5, 6-2 and Anna Costa defeated Kate Kennedy, 7-5, 7-5. Corrine Langston rallied after losing the first set to defeat Yana Meinert, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.

ORU returns to the courts on April 20 for The Summit League Championship in Fort Wayne, Ind.
