ORU Takes Next Step in Presidential Search

Oral Roberts University took the next step today in the search for the university's third president. The Board of Trustees has authorized a consultant to assist in the process and approved the committee members.

The ORU Board of Trustees also received the Institutional Audit and Presidential Profile Report. This document was created with input from students, faculty, staff and alumni and outlines what ORU is looking for in a new president as well as the state of the university today.

Bruce Dingman will serve as the consultant to ORU throughout the search process. Dingman is the president of the Dingman Company, Inc., an executive search and selection firm based near Los Angeles, California. Dingman has been ranked as one of the "Global 200" top recruiters in the world. In January 2008, BusinessWeek.com listed him among the "Top 50 Most Influential Headhunters."

The members of the Presidential Search Committee will include Trustees Don Argue, Jay Betz, Mart Green, Dr. Charles McKinney, and Dr. Glenda Payas; Dr. Walter MacMillan, University Faculty Assembly President; Rhae Buckley, Alumni Association Board Chair; Joseph Musa, Student Association President; and Sheree King, Director of Student Success and Retention.

"We are eager to find the person that God has to be the new president for ORU," said Mart Green, board chair of the ORU Board of Trustees. "This individual will be instrumental in propelling the mission and vision of the university forward."

It is anticipated that a new president will be in place at ORU by or before the summer of 2009. Inquiries and recommendations may be sent to Marian Baumgardner at mbaumgardner@oru.edu.
