CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas—Pamela Ontiveros (Torreon, Mexico) fired a final round 75 to help lead Oral Roberts University to a second-place finish at the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Spring Classic, Tuesday at Corpus Christi Country Club.

Ontiveros finished the tournament tied for fourth with a three-round 232. The Golden Eagles shot 311 on Tuesday to finish their first tournament of the spring at 937, three strokes behind team champion Lamar.

Ontiveros saved her best round of the tournament for last. She struggled a bit on Monday, shooting 76-81, but recovered nicely to shoot 3-over par on Tuesday despite heavy winds which resulted in high scores for nearly everyone.

Joining Ontiveros in the individual top 10 were Christy Carter (Tulsa, Okla.) and Jessica Gibson (Tulsa, Okla.) who tied for sixth at 233, one stroke behind Ontiveros. Carter shot a 78 on Tuesday and Gibson carded an 81.

Megan O'Connell (Odessa, Texas) finished tournament play in a tie for 33rd after shooting 77 on Tuesday to finish at 243. Sharon McAlpine (Ft. Worth, Texas) finished in 56th at 257.

Lamar's Theresse Nilsson won the individual title by defeating teammate Channing Norton in a playoff.

The Golden Eagles return to the links when they participate in the Northern Arizona Red Rocks Invitational, March 1-2 in Sedona, Ariz.
