ORU Announces Chair of the Presidential Search Study Committee


TULSA, OKLA - Dr. Glenda Payas, a member of the Oral Roberts University Board of Regents, has been appointed as chair of the Presidential Search Study Committee.

The Presidential Search Study Committee will research consultants and determine the process of selection of a new president. After the process is determined, a Presidential Search Committee will be formed which will identify applicants, begin the interview process and present recommendations to the full board for a vote. Feedback from faculty, staff, alumni, students, parents and community leaders will be sought during the search process.

"Dr. Payas is the perfect regent to facilitate the search study process," said George Pearsons, chairman of the ORU Board of Regents. "She is highly organized, articulate and thorough, and is committed to ORU's vision."

Dr. Payas has a doctor of dental medicine (DMD) degree from ORU, and is currently practicing in Tulsa, utilizing the latest high-tech equipment and procedures. She specializes in laser and cosmetic dental surgery. Prior to having her own practice, she worked for three years for the U.S. Public Health Corps. She has completed her fellowship and mastership with the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Payas has completed over 1500 hours of advanced clinical training which have been certified by the Oklahoma Board of Governors for dentistry whose minimum requirement is 20 hours per year. She has 13 years of teaching experience as well as three master's degrees in Natural Sciences: Chemistry, Physics, and Biology; Guidance and Counseling; and Administration from New Mexico Highlands University.

"I am pleased to be chairing this new committee," said Dr. Payas. "With a great process in place and much prayer, the next president will be selected who can move ORU into a bright, promising future."

Dr. Payas is the current chair of the board's Academic Affairs Committee and is a member of the Higher Learning Commission Regent Committee.
