ORU Sweeps Awards at Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature


The Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature (O.I.L.) hosts a five-day mock legislative session in the Oklahoma State Capitol once a semester consisting of delegations from over twenty universities across the state. It includes a moot court competition and model executive branch.

ORU's delegation competed against other schools such as the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, the University of Central Oklahoma and the University of Tulsa.

The ORU delegation won the following awards:
  • Overall Best Delegation
  • Best House Delegation
  • Best House Freshman: Jennifer Cook, ORU and 2nd Runner Up- Andrew Ahles, ORU
  • Best House Delegate: Jamie Weathers, ORU
  • Best House Legislation 2nd Runner Up: Jennifer Cook (Death Penalty Moratorium Act)
  • Best House Legislation 3rd Runner Up: Andrew Ahles (Armed Educators Act)
  • Best Senate Delegation
  • Best Senate Freshman: Jessica Craig, ORU
  • Winner of the Canned Food Drive
