Honoring Those Who Serve
Randy Wren 91

"I love to talk to soldiers and find out what their world is like and what is going on with them," Wren said. "Chaplains go where soldiers go. Sometimes this involves counseling, or just 'shooting the breeze' with them or participating in live training exercises with them."
Wren said that one of the biggest challenges for him is his alternating times at home and in deployment. He said that his wife, Cathy, took on a great deal of responsibility when he was deployed to Germany.
"The Army spouse has to assume the roles of mom, dad, disciplinarian, teacher, taxi driver and whatever else you can think of," Wren said. "All of a sudden a spouse is forced to be a single parent."
Wren lives with his wife and their two children, Buddy, 13, and Jessica, 11, in Oklahoma City.
