More than just corn and green beans... There were plenty of other food items that hard-working students brought back to campus on Oct. 31.

Eight hundred students collected a record 10,609 cans during Community Outreach's Fall Outreach Oct. 31.

Students visited about 3,000 homes and were able to pray with over 125 people about various needs including health problems, family members serving in the military overseas, loss of loved ones, jobs, and family issues. One group was able to pray with a man who just found out that day that he had cancer.

Students enjoyed hot chocolate donated by the Alumni Association and coffee from Starbucks. Three student bands performed at the outdoor concert which was attended by most of the students who came out for the evening.

Approximately 90% of the cans will be donated immediately to area food banks including Tulsa Dream Center, South Peoria Neighborhood House, Glory House Women's Shelter, Fisherman's House Church, John 3:16 Mission, and the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature. The remaining 10% of the cans will be stored by ORU Community Outreach for distribution throughout the year.

Fall Outreach continues to be an excellent way for students to build a culture of outreach on campus as they actively serve the community.
