Jereme Harlan 01 serves as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He joined the Marine Corps upon graduating and is currently stationed in Trinidad and Tobago, working as a Marine security guard at U.S. embassies around the world. Harlan said he takes great pride in being able to wear a Marine Corps uniform on a daily basis.

"What I enjoy most is the opportunity to serve my country during a time of war," Harlan said. "The events of 9/11 were a big influence on my decision to join, and I have not once regretted that decision. Since joining, I have also discovered a wealth of additional opportunities for travel and giving aid to others while wearing the uniform."

Harlan also appreciates the core value system of the USMC, which teaches honor, courage and commitment at all times, regardless of rank or location.

"As a sergeant, I have gained a valuable understanding of military responsibility and leadership, and a humbleness from having the respect of those under me," Harlan said. "Wearing the rank of sergeant comes with tremendous responsibility and expectations of tireless performance in one's duties, expectations I can only try to live up to with the help of God."
