"I have relied on the soldiers who have been here longer to teach me the intricacies of the current mission here," Walker said. "Technically I was well prepared for the Signal Corps by my degree (computer science) but was relatively unprepared for the 'hands off' of the management aspect of being an officer. There is no better teacher than experience."
Walker also said that he finds fulfillment in his position with the Army, but that his position in Afghanistan has challenged him as well.
"The best thing about the Army is knowing the contributions you make on a daily basis helps to shape the world around us," Walker said. "Being in Afghanistan challenges me to hold on to my faith that what actions we are taking helps to ultimately benefit the world."
Walker is married to Ginger, who is currently completing a degree from Oklahoma State University.
