Nicknamed Nordaggio
|
During his junior and senior years, he attended a Charismatic private school, located in a lower-income part of Seattle. Nordstrom was an anomaly in a couple of ways--his meals and his wheels.
He drove to school in an "old, diesel Mercedes with about 250,000 miles." The car was well-kept and a stand-out in the school parking lot.
At lunchtime when most students pulled out peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, Nordstrom enjoyed a "cornucopia of lunch treats" made by his mom. "I had the rye swirl bread and everything."
Nordstrom's buddies affectionately teased him about his fancy taste in sack lunches and teenage transportation. So, they took the first part of his name, "Nord," and added a "smooth" ending.
"Hey, Nordaggio!"
