Reconstructing and resurfacing.

Reconstructing and resurfacing.
In our elementary years, we stocked up on crayons, scissors, and glue. That's pretty much what the university had in mind when gathering supplies for the upcoming year. They've redecorated the place by coloring the walls, cutting up the floors, and gluing stuff in place. Take a look at the construction that was done this summer:

Perking up. In order to accommodate the morning rush on coffee, workers are extending the café into the lobby and updating the look with tiles.

Bookin' it! Embossed cement blocks give a durable, wooden appearance to entrances like this one at the University Bookstore. Hurrying to finish before students arrive, painters have primed the walls for paint and paper that will reflect the updated color scheme.

Cozy. The Graduate Center 3rd floor pit - a comfortable and convenient spot to study or lunch - is being re-carpeted and reupholstered. Segments of the round sofa chairs were dismantled and shipped off for their new look.

School House Rocks. ...and shrubs and flowers and decorative grasses fill raised beds near the LRC main entrance. Eventually, the tall trees will shade a garden of benches and plant beds where students, faculty, staff, and visitors can refresh.

Reconstructing and resurfacing. While this worker prepares to pour a new concrete sidewalk along the north side of the LRC, others are resurfacing and re-striping the parking lots on campus.
