A simple thought or theme is all it takes to get master "concept-er" Johnie Hampton flowing in creative mode. With his background in art and business, Hampton and his production team at Hampton Creative (http://hamptoncreative.com) are pros at communicating missions that matter.

In fact, Hampton recently received two Addy Awards from the Tulsa Advertising Federation for pieces he designed for ORU programs, one of them being the "I Believe" campaign for the 2005 Alumni Association Annual Fund.

"I love the process of 'concept-ing,' layout, and designing projects that communicate unique ideas," Hampton shared. "It's definitely a skill that God has given me and allowed me to hone for years."

Bringing order to chaos with style has been Hampton's passion since childhood. "The biggest discovery that I had a gift was when I was about 8 or 9. We had a toy room that was nearly always in disarray. When my mother asked me to clean it up one day, she returned to find the room completely organized from top to bottom and everything structured by size, shape, and color."

Though Hampton began his journey at ORU on an art scholarship, he decided to change his major to business administration once he finished his basics. "At that time, desktop design was only a dream and I knew that I didn't (and couldn't) make a living as a sculpture artist," he explained. "Now that I own an agency, my business skills are a perfect match for the graphic design skills I have taught myself in the past 10 years--using my art basics as a foundation for all I do creatively."

So what does Hampton enjoy most about his creative work? "Watching businesses and ministries succeed as a result of the work of our hands. And having the ability to make much larger donations to organizations I believe in as a business as opposed to working on my own," he said.

Hampton enjoys life in Tulsa with his wife, Krystal, and their toddler, Zane Hollis.
