When we last saw the ORU men's basketball team, they were in College Park, Md., taking part in the first round of the NIT.

The men lost that game to Maryland, and ended their season, but as head coach Scott Sutton has said, it only served as inspiration to come back this fall and do better. Better, as in make it to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1984.

The game is on!

The ORU women, of course, made it to that first-round NCAA game and put on a good show before falling to Texas. This season, head coach Jerry Finkbeiner and his team are focused on repeating as champions of the Mid-Continent Conference tournament (being held in Tulsa) and taking another, more successful run at the NCAA.

The men and women were both victorious in exhibition play this month. Now, it's time to get serious.

Check the Athletics Web site for the teams' schedules, latest scores, and record-breaking feats. Leah Cannon is poised to break the assists record in the Mid-Con and at ORU. (The new records might be set by the time you read this.)
