Bork is a homeschooled student who is excited about enrolling at ORU this fall. She said she "connected with the vision of the university."
She started taking AP classes her freshman year of high school, excelled on the exams, landed an internship first with Softek Solutions, Inc., then at iNTouch Consulting in Kansas, and, she tells us, attended "a one-week business school in Iowa" and received a $1,000 scholarship for college.

With these impressive achievements under this 18-year-old's belt, many would agree that Janine Bork is more than ready and able to take on college.

Bork, a homeschooled student who was accepted into the honors program at ORU (is anyone surprised?), will be one of many new students enrolling this fall as a business management major.

As a homeschooler since the 4th grade, Bork said homeschooling has helped her develop "good study skills." She attributed her family's decision to homeschool to God making it "very obvious" to her mom. She said homeschooling has "allowed [my] mom to challenge me like I needed to be challenged."

The quest to find the right university started when Bork was in 7th grade, because Bork's mom wanted to "tailor the [homeschool] curriculum... to whatever college I decided to attend." Ultimately, Bork said she chose ORU because she "connected with the vision of the university.

"I love all of the ORU vision, specifically the whole-man education, going into every man's world to bring healing, and being Spirit-led," said Bork. "I didn't find all of those aspects together in any of the other universities I visited. After hearing the vision, attending the chapel at ORU, and walking around the campus, I just knew in my spirit that ORU is where I am supposed to be for the next four years."

When she's not studying, Bork enjoys playing classical piano, takes karate classes with the Karate Outreach Evangelism Team (KORE), and helps to teach karate at an inner city public middle school; she has had the opportunity to share Christ with these kids after class. Bork is very much involved in her church, playing the keyboard for the youth worship band and helping with the children's ministry periodically.

Looking at her life so far, Bork believes that one of the greatest honors she's ever received is having friends tell her "that my life has led them closer to Jesus." It is her prayer that her life will continue to do so and that others will see Jesus in her.
