This summer, seventeen teams of ORU students have gone on the mission field. Part of their training process is a weeklong ropes course designed to create unity in the team, teach submission to leadership, and improve communication.

Karen Thomas, who is on the Australia team, is one of more than 350 student missionaries involved in revolutionizing the world for eternity. Thomas enjoyed the weeklong ropes training, saying, "We developed such unity with our team group. And, I saw areas of my life that needed to change."

The missions office has expanded its staff from thirteen members two years ago, to twenty-two workers for the coming school year. Being on the ORU missions staff is a great opportunity to build high-quality relationships and accountability. In addition to organizing spring break, summer, and fall break missions trips for ORU students, the workers participate in "family times" every other week, take a ski trip, and plan retreats and leadership weekends, among other activities.

Evan Essenburg, regional coordinator in the missions office, says that his favorite thing about being a part of the group is "spending time with people who have given their lives to God, for the idea of spreading the gospel."

The missions office reports that "we've been hearing wonderful things from the field." Watch this page for updates on what has been happening around the world.
