Seven alumni were among the honorees at the third annual Faculty Recognition Awards luncheon, held Nov. 22 on the Mabee Center Mezzanine.

The awards, including a total of $2,500 in cash prizes, are sponsored by the ORU Alumni Association. President Richard Roberts was on hand to present the awards and congratulate the faculty.

"I am honored to be a co-laborer with you," Roberts said. "I value you. I appreciate you."

Alumni Dr. Dave Eland, Pam Smucker, Dr. Bill Collier, Dr. Sam Thorpe, Terry Unruh, LeighAnne Locke, and Dr. Ken Weed received:
  • Deans' Award for Technology in the Curriculum (Eland, CSC/Math)
  • Deans' Award for Integration of Faith and Learning (Smucker, Education, honorable mention)
  • Deans' Award for Innovation in Teaching (Collier, Chemistry, and Thorpe, Theology, both honorable mentions)
  • Chairs' Award for Service (Unruh, Business, honorable mention)
  • University Faculty Assembly (UFA) Awards, second place (Weed, Chemistry), and third place (Locke, CSC/Math)
Awards also went to:

In addition to these awards, Robert Chapman of the School of Business received the first-ever "Writing Across the Disciplines" Award, which recognizes excellence in the use of writing in the classroom to facilitate student learning.
