Walsh Wins Scholarship

Since 1996, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners has selected at least one ORU business student each year to receive their $1,000 Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship.

This year, senior Philip Walsh, an accounting major from Sterling Heights, Mich., took the award. Eight ORU students have received this national award, among 71 total recipients, since the local chapter of ACFE began nominating candidates six years ago.

Selection is based on overall academic achievement, a short essay on fraud awareness, and letters of recommendation.

"The ORU students...are all standouts," said Scott Carter, president of the Tulsa chapter of ACFE. "They are solid in their scholastics, ambition to succeed, spiritual beliefs, and in their awareness that hard work and determination are needed to meet their objectives."
