Faculty Honored, Rewarded for Excellence
The ORU Alumni Association, for the second year in a row, provided $2,500 for the program. President Richard Roberts was on hand to congratulate all the winners and pose for photos with them. Dr. Ralph Fagin, vice president for Academic Affairs, served as master of ceremonies.
The Deans' Awards went to Audrey Thompson (Nursing), Dr. Byron McKissack (Education) and Lenore Mullican (Modern Languages), and Dr. Hallett Hullinger (Education) for "Innovation in Teaching," "Integrating Faith and Learning," and "Technology in the Curriculum," respectively. Receiving honorable mention in those three categories were Dr. Mary Lou Miller (Education), Dr. Larry Walker (Behavioral Sciences), and Marshal Wright (Business).
The Chairs' Awards for "Mentoring in the Classroom," "Scholarship in the Classroom," and "Service in the Classroom" went to Carole Lewandowski (Communication Arts), Dr. Walt MacMillan (Business), and Dr. Lanny Endicott (Behavioral Sciences), respectively.
The University Faculty Assembly provided a bit of drama in presenting its "Professionalism in the Classroom" awards...by starting with honorable mention and working its way up to first place.
Honorees were Evie Lindberg (Education), honorable mention; Gary Ritzhaupt (Chemistry), third place; Dr. James Tollett (Theology), second place; and Ardith Baker (Business), first place.
