New Engineering Link Is Up

The ORU Alumni Office is pleased to offer a new service to graduates of our engineering program.

On the front page of the alumni Web site (alumniweb.oru.edu), you'll find the logo for Learnon, a free online repository of continuing engineering education and distance-learning courses provided by the nation's top universities and professional societies. MIT, University of California-Berkeley, and Johns Hopkins are among the schools included on the Learnon site.

Learnon was created by the American Society for Engineering Education, a nonprofit organization committed to continuing engineering education. ASEE was founded in 1893 and has a membership of more than 12,000. Its vision is "to serve as the premier multidisciplinary society for individuals and organizations committed to advancing excellence in all aspects of engineering and engineering technology education."

"Now more than ever," writes Tyler Cluverius of Learnon.org, "rapid changes in technology are having a significant impact on continuing engineering education. To keep up in an ever-changing field, many of the nearly two million engineers in the United States are planning to further their education." Learnon's cost-free service "provides countless opportunities to find these courses online, on campus, and on video."
