Make Us A Blessing

It's been five years since ORU went into the collection business--the canned-food and nonperishable items collection business, that is. Thanks to the efforts of Scott McLean and the Community Outreach department, Halloween night has become a time to focus on the needs of others

On Oct. 31, more than 800 students, faculty, and staff went door-to-door in nearby neighborhoods and collected more than 10,000 items that have helped stock local food banks. Because ORU's efforts are becoming so well known, many homeowners leave bags of food at their front doors in anticipation of the students' visits.

"The mandate on our lives is to love one another," McLean said. "It is important to me that as an ORU body and as a people, we meet the needs of others."
