The 'State of the University'
The Information Desk on LRC 3 is open for business! Several staff members are taking turns working at the desk.
Student Services conducted a registration session for faculty and staff in early August so that everyone would know how the process works...and so that they could give good directions when approached by students.
Students are now able to do all their course drop/adds online. The plan is to offer complete, online course registration by next August.
Several additional suggestion boxes have been placed all over campus.
ORU continues its review of forms, with an eye toward simplifying each one when possible.
Catalogs and Student Handbooks were mailed out to all new students before they arrived on campus in August.
ORU is installing new hardware and software for its Intranet, which will be used to improve communication with graduate and commuter students.
Admissions, the Registrar, Financial Aid, and Student Accounts have all extended their hours, which are now: 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday and Thursday, and 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Dress code and curfew are both under review.
The customer service training program for faculty and staff has been completed.
Finally, ORU is making progress (as money becomes available) on its plan to move all of the Student Service offices to one floor.
"Being the president of ORU," Roberts said, "is a real-live adventure in faith and perseverance and persistence."
Amen.
