The women's track team must be chasing more than record times. They also seem to be in a race to finish first in academics.

When the Mid-Continent Conference revealed its Spring Academic All-Conference team this month, four of the five athletes with perfect 4.0 GPAs were from ORU...and two were on the women's track team. Women's basketball and men's tennis had the other two star athletes.

Twelve women tracksters--more than half the team--made the list. So did members of women's basketball (5 players), men's basketball (4), men's track (9), men's golf (2), women's golf (3), women's tennis (4), and men's tennis (4)--a total of 44 athletes.

Athletes must have a career GPA of at least 3.0 and have completed at least one academic year at their current institution to be eligible for the academic team.
