At the President's Homecoming Banquet on Feb. 6, we asked alumni to consider running for the Alumni Association Board of Directors, or to suggest someone who would make a good candidate.

The next board meeting is Sept. 24-25. The Nomination Committee must have a slate of candidates ready to present at this meeting. As soon as the nominations are nailed down, the Office of Alumni Relations will prepare the ballot for mailing. Ballots are normally mailed out in late November or early December, with a must-be-postmarked-by date of Dec. 27. If you don't receive a ballot by Christmas, PLEASE call or e-mail us (918-495-6610; alumni@oru.edu) and ask us about it!

The board has 21 members, with 2 representatives for each of 7 segments and 1 representative for each of the graduate/professional schools. The segments/schools with openings to fill this year are:

Segment II (1973-77), one opening. Segment IV (1983-87), one opening. Segment VI (1992-95), one opening. Segment VII (1996-99), one opening. The School of Business and the School of Law, one opening in each. (Note: The segments are realigned every few years to accommodate new classes. We have "resegmented" for the 1999 election.)

The current chairman of the board is Thom Irwin (77;82), School of Law. The chairman-elect is Dave Barton (76), Segment II.
