Israeli Professor to Speak on Anti-Semitic Language

Dr. Alexander Bligh, a Schusterman Visiting Israeli Professor at the University of Notre Dame, will be the guest speaker April 24 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Zoppelt Auditorium for a joint presentation by the ORU Center for Israel and Middle East Studies and the Knesset Club of ORU.

"It All Begins With Words" is the title of the symposium. In light of ever-increasing anti-Semitic language and accompanying terrorist acts worldwide, an awareness of the language used to change the terrain of politics and policies will be discussed. Dr. Bligh's expertise will guide each listener to better understand the problem and the possible outcome if left unaddressed. A question and answer session will follow the lecture.

Professor Bligh is a former advisor to the Israeli Prime Minister on Arab Affairs (1990-1992). He also served as Deputy in that office for three years prior. He is currently the chair of the Department of Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies at Ariel University Center and the director of that school's Center for International Strategic Assessment. He is a senior lecturer in Political Science at Bar-Ilan University and the director of the Masters Program on Democracy and Democratization in the Arab World.
