ORU Alumnus Named Asbury Theological Seminary President

ORU alumnus Dr. Timothy Tennent (81) has been named the eighth president of Asbury Theological Seminary, a private graduate school in the Wesleyan tradition with campuses in Kentucky and Florida.

"The board is very excited about the unanimous election of Dr. Tennent. Dr. Tennent is a scholar's scholar, a professor's professor. He is a world Christian with world vision who will take Asbury Seminary into wonderful new arenas," said Dr. Dan Johnson, chairman of the Asbury Board of Trustees in a recent press release. Dr. Tennent was previously at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where he was professor of world missions and Indian studies. He has also taught at Toccoa Falls College in Georgia, and he teaches annually at the Luther W. New Jr. Theological College of Dehra Dun, India. Dr. Tennent is the author of several books and has pastored churches in Georgia, as well as ministering and teaching in China, Thailand, Nigeria and Eastern Europe.
