ORU Alumnus Receives Student Social Work High Honor

Julie Mains, 2007 ORU graduate with a degree in psychology, was recently named Oklahoma's Graduate Social Work Student of the Year. Julie is grateful for the foundation in Christian education she received from ORU. "I think ORU really prepared me to work hard in graduate school and expect to be challenged, which placed me ahead of many people in the long run." Julie attends the University of Oklahoma - Tulsa. A committee of social work professors and professionals from across the state review the nominees and choose the winner of this award based on criteria such as academic performance and service both on campus and in the community.

Julie was recommended for the award by Dr. Julie Miller-Cribbs, the assistant director of the school of social work at OU. Dr. Lanny Endicott, director of the social work program at ORU and president of the Oklahoma chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, presented Julie with her award.
