President Mark Rutland, Alumni Relations Director Natalie Adams (far left), and George Paul, associate vice president for Alumni and Development (far right), were present Nov. 5 to recognize the six recipients of the Alumni Faculty Awards.

On Nov. 5, six Oral Roberts University professors and instructors were honored for their dedication, commitment and research in their respective fields of study at the Alumni Faculty Awards Luncheon.

Hosted by the Faculty Excellence Committee and ORU Alumni Relations, these dedicated professionals were applauded by a number of their colleagues and by President Mark and First Lady Alison Rutland. Nominees were chosen by other faculty members, who also organized and made the final selections. Along with a plaque of recognition, each winner received a $500 cash award from ORU Alumni Relations.

"A good relationship between faculty and students translates into a great relationship between alumni and their institution," Dr. Debbie Sowell, vice president for Academic Affairs, said. "This is really the alumni saying thank you for the job they are doing today."

Those honored were: Kevin Schneider, instructor of business, Teacher's Award; Dr. Joel Gaikwad, associate professor of biology, Research Award; Evie Lindberg, instructor of undergraduate education, Leadership Award; Dr. Calvin Roso, associate professor of graduate education, Service Award; Carol Blan, assistant professor of Christian Education and sub-administrator for the undergraduate theology department, Whole Person Assessment Award; and Dr. Andrew Lang, professor of mathematics, Writing Across the Curriculum Award.
