A Brief Introduction to Masters' Programs and the Doctor of Ministry
The ORU Graduate School of Theology and Ministry offers three categories of masters' programs: 1) the Master of Divinity, 2) the Master of Arts Academic Programs, and 3) the Master of Arts Professional Programs. The school also offers the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.), a terminal degree.
A breakout is provided below of the degree programs within each category.
- The Master of Divinity (M.Div.)
The basic professional degree for ministry, preparing students for effective careers as pastors, evangelists, chaplains, and a broad variety of other ministries.
- The Master of Arts Academic Programs
Preparing graduate students for teaching, writing, or doctoral studies within the field of Theology. Program offerings include:
- M.A. in Biblical Literature
- M.A. in Biblical Literature with a concentration in Advanced Languages
- M.A. in Biblical Literature with a concentration in Judaic-Christian Studies
- M.A. in Theological/Historical Studies
- The Master of Arts Professional Programs
Preparing students for specialized ministries within the local church, church-related agencies, or other professional settings. Professional programs include:
- M.A. in Christian Counseling
- M.A. in Christian Counseling with a concentration in Marital and Family Therapy
- M.A. in Missions
- M.A. in Practical Theology
- M.A. in Practical Theology with a concentration in Teaching Ministries
- M.A. in Practical Theology with a concentration in Urban Ministry
- Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.)

Online Learning: Modular Format with Minimal Residency

Fast Track Program
Through the ORU Fast Track program, currently enrolled juniors and seniors may take graduate level classes and get a jump start on their graduate degrees. In the program, up to 12 graduate credit hours may be taken during regular course load without additional cost! The Graduate School of Theology and Ministry offers an innovative program where two degrees may be pursued simultaneously. Joint Degrees reduce the overall program time for students by up to a year. Those interested in seeking joint degrees are encouraged to speak with an academic advisor for more information on their particular combination.
