Student Story: Vauntez I. Purnell
My name is Vauntez I. Purnell. I am the second oldest of eight children and I grew up in a single parent home. Coming from the south side of Chicago, there was no way my academic background would allow me to currently be studying Business Administration at Oral Roberts University.
Initially, I had no intentions of coming to college due to my desire for ministry. Once I realized how essential obtaining practical knowledge was, there was an urgency in my heart to get a degree that would prepare me for my future. Finances, of course, would play a big role in my decision. One pivotal confirmation was the financial aid made available to me, and out of the schools that I applied to, ORU gave the best offer.
The day I stepped foot on campus was the day that my life changed forever. Since being a student at ORU, I've grown in multiple aspects of my life, and I've been afforded opportunities that I would never have imagined possible. I'm being equipped to go into any person's world as a catalyst for innovation and change. I now desire to excel in life, whether it be in ministry, business, music, acting, etc. I don't want the memory of my life to be that I was a survivor; I want to be remembered as an individual who thrived in all that I did. ORU has transformed this vision into a reality.
Much Love, Peace and Many Blessings,
