Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for teaching all levels of undergraduate Arabic as well as intermediate and upper division French courses, and oversee courses in translation and interpreting.

Duties

Teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced Arabic courses
Teach intermediate and upper-division French courses, including literature, composition, and phonetics, as well as courses in translation and interpreting.

Additionally, full-time faculty members are expected to participate with students in research, attend chapel services and academic meetings, serve on academic committees, support student activities, and hold office hours for mentoring and advisement.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a PhD and have native or near-native proficiency in Arabic and French with preference given to candidates with graduate work in one or both of these languages. Additionally, academic training and work experience in translation and interpreting are desired. Candidates should have teaching experience and be able to demonstrate effective teaching skills. Knowledge of educational technology is a plus, and openness to expanding skills in educational technology is a must.
