Assistant Professor of French

Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for teaching all levels of undergraduate French, supporting related language and cultural activities, and promoting the language to our constituencies.

Duties

  • Oversee our French program.
  • Teach approximately 12 credit hours per semester, including beginning, intermediate, and advanced French courses.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students in their French major or minor programs as well as study abroad options in Francophone countries.
  • Participate in university activities such as faculty meetings, committee meetings, retreats and chapel services.
  • Participate in scholarly activities related to their field.
  • Embrace a whole-person commitment as articulated in the University's Code of Honor and work in support of the University's vision and mission.

Requirements

  • Hold a PhD in French (or relevant field with graduate work in French).
  • Possess native or near-native proficiency in French.
  • Possess a record of excellent teaching and scholarship. 
  • Have knowledge of educational technology and an openness to expanding skills in technology. 
  • Experience in translation desired.
