Foreign language students should have installed French, German, or Spanish writing/Proofing tools for MS Word, as well as the appropriate foreign keyboard configuration. They should also have the latest version of RealPlayer, QuickTime, and Macromedia Flash player.
Art (Graphic Design) students need a computer with at least 1 GB RAM.
College of LifeLong Education (SLLE) students must have a DVD-CDRW, a printer, and access to a scanner. The following software is also required: Quick Time and scanner software (if the scanner is owned).
Communication Arts students with a major in Mass Media Communication and a concentration in MultiMedia Production enter this program in the junior year and are charged a $1,800 lab fee to cover the purchase of a specialized computer. This computer is loaded with various media software owned by ORU. Students have use of the software for two years. At the end of the senior year, the software is removed and the computers are returned to the students. Because specifications change frequently, computers brought as freshman computers do not work in this context. This program requires application and selection.
Nursing students will also need a PDA of one of the two following configurations:
- Palm OS
- Palm OS 3.5 or later (5.0 or later to view images)
- Palm HotSync Manager 4.1 or later
- Windows PC or Mac OS x with Internet connection
- Memory Cards Supported
- Memory requirements: 21 MB
- Windows PC or Mac OS X with Internet connection

- One of the following Windows CE Operating Systems
- Windows Mobile for Pocket PC 5.0 or later
- Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone edition
- Pocket PC 2003 or later
- One of the following PC/PDA Managers
- ActiveSync 4.0 or later (Windows XP or earlier)
- Windows Mobile Device Center (MS Vista)
