Dr. Mark Rutland, President
Dr. Mark Rutland has been elected the third president of Oral Roberts University. He is a distinguished educator, charismatic leader, business man and a nationally recognized figure in Christian higher education. The active pursuit of intellectual and spiritual awakening is central to Dr. Rutland's worldview, making his vision a perfect complement to the ORU philosophy of whole-person education. He will begin his new role July 1, 2009.
Dr. Rutland also currently serves as president of Global Servants. Through Global Servants, Dr. Rutland has founded ministries in Ghana and Thailand. The House of Grace home for tribal girls in Chiang Rai, Thailand, was founded in 1988 and houses over 100 girls.
A native of Texas, Dr. Rutland was educated at the University of Maryland and Candler College of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He holds a Ph.D. from California Graduate School of Theology.
