ORU Alumni Day of Prayer and Fasting

Alumni Day of Prayer and Fasting for ORU
Thursday, September 10, 2009

To watch the service that will take place in the Holy Spirit Room of Christ's Chapel on Sept. 10, return to this page and click on the link for the streaming video.

Across the world, people will be praying and fasting for the future of ORU and its students.

An invitation from Suzanne Behr 81
Board of Reference Member

Please mark your calendars that day and pray and fast, as the Lord leads you, for the university - its students, faculty, staff, administration, and new president!  Last year, thousands of us around the globe fasted and prayed in unity on September 6th for the Lord’s wisdom and blessing on ORU. And look how the Lord has blessed: Our debt has been virtually eliminated, the students, faculty, and staff are so encouraged and strengthened, and we have a new president (Dr. Mark Rutland) who loves the Lord and shares the vision Oral Roberts originally had for the university.

I envision thousands of people, nationwide and worldwide, praying and fasting for ORU on this day, asking God to give our leaders wisdom as they continue to make decisions that will determine what happens at ORU in the months and years to come. You might live a thousand or ten thousand miles away, but you can still affect the future of ORU, and God's Kingdom on earth, through your unity in prayer and faith.

We believe in the power of prayer, even as some of the stalwarts in the faith did:

"God does nothing but in answer to prayer."
-- John Wesley

"The story of every great Christian achievement
is the history of answered prayer."
-- E.M. Bounds

So make a commitment now to be a part of the change at ORU by praying and fasting with thousands of other alumni on September 10th! Click here to let us know you are praying with us and to see who else has signed up to pray/fast!

Here's a little more of what September 10th will look like for those participating:

  1. Please spend as much of the day as you can praying and fasting for ORU. If you can not fast with us, please still pray for ORU and sign up!
  2. At the end of the day, we'd like those who can to gather at a particular meeting place (such as a home or church) in their respective communities to end by praying together.
    • If you'd like to join (or host) a gathering, click here.
    • As of today alumni have already volunteered to host a closing prayer meeting in their respective cities. See if one is near you! Click here.
    • Click here to see what you should pray for on September 10th.
  3. In Tulsa, we'll get together at 7 pm in Christ's Chapel or the Holy Spirit Room to pray with the student body, faculty, staff, and administration, as we are joining them in their day of prayer and fasting too. I’m looking for volunteers who will be willing to pray over certain ORU groups at the end of that meeting. I need former male and female RAs to stand up and pray for current RAs, former chaplains to attend and pray for current chaplains, former student association members, business majors, communication majors, pre-med majors, faculty members, etc. to pray for those currently in those positions! Please email me at suzbehr@cox.net if you can help me here!
  4. Even if you can't spend much time praying or fasting throughout the day, please join us for the group prayer. If a closing-prayer site has not been set up in your city, you can watch the one we'll have in Tulsa in Christ's Chapel. Come back to this page at 7 p.m. on September 10 and watch our service--LIVE! This is a time for spiritual unity, asking God to bless ORU and supernaturally provide for its needs.
